The Story of the Cecropia Moth The Cecropian Moth is the largest moth in North America, including Canada down to Mexico. Our moth developed from a caterpillar that was found in Lake George on Diamond Island last summer. When it was found, it changed color in order to blend in with a nearby bush (from green to blue). After bringing it into our classroom last September, it turned into a cocoon. On April 23 it emerged into a beautiful moth. Its colors are red, white, tan and brown. Its wings extend to about five inches. Its expected life span is about two weeks. Its only job is to mate and lay eggs. Our moth's name is Rainbow. by: Gian, Emily, Kevin and Aaron Ms Debus' gr 1-2 multiage class
