These fifth grade girls are preparing a
report about the climate of the southwest
region.

The Presidents of the United
States
Multiage students pictured themselves
as future presidents of the United States.
Their art teacher, Mrs. Higgins, provided
the instruction and the children provided
the imagination.

Monday, March 4
Song In America
Artist Brian Gillie got the school
singing and rocking with presentations of
his program, "Song In America", which
traced the history of various singing
styles from the 1600's to today's
singers.

Tuesday, March 5
"Kids Inc." Dinner
Students in the after school "Kids
Inc." program participate in service
activities throughout the community. On
Tuesday they planned and served a dinner
for Tesago staff as a thank-you for all
that the grownups at school do. The
children greeted and seated the diners and
served a tasty Italian dinner. The
service was
outstanding!

"Students of the Month"
February 2002
Students from third, fourth and fifth
grade classrooms were honored as "Students
of the Month" for their efforts during
Honesty & Friendship Month.
Kindergarten, first and second grade
classes recognized students in their
classrooms.

Wednesday, March 6
Outstanding Educator
Third grade teacher Carol Jones stands
with WNYT Channel 13's Elaine Houston,
news anchor and education reporter. Among
dozens of area educators who were
nominated, Miss Jones is one of
twenty-five "Outstanding Educators"
recognized in Channel 13's "Educator of
the Week" series. Ms. Houston's visit,
interview and filming occurred today, and
the piece will be televised in May.

Hawaii Day
The Student Council sponsored a special
"Hawaii Day". Summer is just around the
corner.

Monday, March 11
Bus Safety
Multiage students performed an
emergency exit during a scheduled bus
drill. Planning and practice are important
in the unlikely event of a real
emergency.

Extending a Hand
The students contributed red, white or
blue tracings of their hands which were
transformed into a flag on the six month
anniversary of the September 11
tragedy.

Biographical Sketches
After reading biographies, third
graders in Mr. Huggins' class use clothing
and props as they share what they've
learned. Thomas Jefferson stopped by
today.

Children in the Language and Skills
Development class worked hard and long to
present a wonderful play of the story "The
Little Red Hen".

A Wax Museum
Fourth graders in Mrs. Javarone's and
Miss Holland's classes created a "Wax
Museum of Famous New Yorkers". They stood
at attention and recited their
contributions when visiting students
"pressed their button". Can you guess the
identity of this famous New
Yorker?

Hats for Leprechauns
These first graders made St. Patrick's
Day hats to make sure that the leprechauns
wouldn't play tricks on them.
