Violin Lessons
Taking musical lessons and
participating in band or orchestra demand
commitment. In addition to the required
practice, work missed in the classroom
during lessons must be made up. The result
is a well rounded student with
self-discipline.

The Magic Trunk
Ventriloquist Sylvia Markson brought
her magic trunk and entertained students,
thanks to the sponsorship of Tesago's PTA
and its "Arts in Education"
program.

Tesago Night at
McDonald's
Tesago teachers and staff manned the
counters, flipped burgers and made
milkshakes at McDonald's. This fundraising
activity, in cooperation with our local
McDonald's restaurant, provides a fun
evening out for families and monies for
many school activities.

Hats
After reading The Five
Hundred Hats of
Bartholomew Cubbins by Dr.
Seuss, Ms. Hughes' second graders made
their own hats!

Thursday, April 11
Volunteer Reception
Staff and faculty hosted a brief
after-school reception to thank the many,
many parent volunteers whose contributions
help the students.

Friday, April 12
High School Musicians
The High School East's Wind Ensemble
and Jazz Ensemble presented a program for
the students. Several of these talented
young adults began studying and practicing
their musical craft as Tesago
students.

Friday, April 12
Preparing for Earth Day
Students in Tesago and Skano jointly
participated in the "Earth Days Groceries
Project", organized by fifth grade teacher
Shannon Shine. The children decorated
paper grocery bags with messages about the
importance of conserving the environment.
Customers at local supermarkets will have
their groceries packed in the bags on
April 22, Earth Day 2002.

Photographic Art
In Mrs. Higgins' art class, fourth
graders have created photographic art by
combining timed exposure of film and the
use of flashlights.

Friday, April 26
Aunt Helen's Closet
Ellen Mnich brought her Aunt Helen's
Closet to school for third graders to see.
Helen Fitzgerald, who lived in Cohoes,
traveled the world, saving clothing and
souvenirs that were shared and modeled by
the children.
