Pumpkins Have Feelings

 

As part of October's theme "Feelings and Conflict Resolution", the halls are decorated with pumpkins that reflect different feelings.

Pulp to Paper

 

The Scotia-Glenville Children's Museum presented their "Pulp to Paper" program to third graders. The children learned about the history of paper making and each made a sheet of recycled paper.

Thursday, October 25
The Candidates Speak

 

Candidates for Student Council officers made campaign speeches and explained why they felt qualified to do a good job. Elections for President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer followed. Good luck to all the candidates!

Kindergartners are learning about patterns by coloring orange pumpkins and black bats.

The Witch's Recipe

 

Children in the language & skills development class followed clues from a "witch's recipe" to create a Halloween treat during one of their language lessons.

Helping Others

 

The children in the multiage classes worked hard at home earning $1.00 each to send to children in Afghanistan. The children's names and good deeds were recorded on the stars of the American flag.

Leap For the Stars

 

Miss Hughes' second graders created motto t-shirts for their classroom community. Their motto is "Leap For the Stars" and their goal is to become self-directed learners. They're on their way!

The annual Halloween parade highlighted the creativity of the children and their families.

Fourth graders put their knowledge of electricity and circuits to the test as they constructed flashlights in their science class.

At the monthly B.E.S.T. assembly, fifth graders shared posters made in conjunction with October's theme, "Feelings & Conflict Resolution".

"Students of the Month"
October 2001

 

Students from third, fourth and fifth grade classrooms were honored as "Students of the Month" for their efforts during Feelings & Conflict Resolution Month.

Friday, November 9
Fresh Fall Leaves

 

The grade 1-2 multiagers collected a variety of fall leaves to celebrate their "Fall Festival". The children made leaf print wall hangings, leaf turkey trays and did some fun leaf math!
